Collaborative work

Hello!

Today our man in Rwanda has been meeting one of his colleagues. We were discussing collaborative work, and had a good time. One of the things we discussed was the Royal Library in Stockholm, which you can see here in the picture below.

In Kigali

The R Library's man is in Kigali where he will be meeting a group of fellow librarians, which he is much looking forward to.

Bibliographic tools

Sometimes there is a need for information about books even though they may not exist in the R Library. Two very useful resources for bibliographic search are:

WorldCat.org: The World's Largest Library Catalog (https://www.worldcat.org/)

Peer-Review

The peer-review system is much debated, but how does it work? This is something that our researchers here at the R University need to know. Therefore we have put together a small selection of resources that contain information about peer-review:

Peer review | Elsevier

A new book on Information Literacy

Andrew Whitworth is a senior lecturer at the University of Manchester. In his new book he is introducing the concept of radical information literacy. The book was recently reviewed in the journal Information Research (read the review).

Please come to the library if you want to borrow or read the book.

Information Resource of the month

This month we would like to introduce a bibliographic database that is very useful, The Emerald Insight Database. The database spans a number of subjects such as
  • Accounting, Finance & Economics
  • Business, Management & Strategy
  • Education
  • HR, Learning & Organization Studies
  • Health & Social Care
  • Information & Knowledge Management
  • Library Studies
  • Marketing
  • Operations, Logistics & Quality
  • Property Management & Built Environment
  • Public Policy & Environmental Management
  • Tourism & Hospitality Management
Since we offer bachelor programs in the following subjects, Education, Library Studies, Information & Knowledge Management, and Marketing, these areas are of  particular interest for our institution.

The database contains references to an abundance of journals articles, books, and book chapters as well as the full text of the referenced documents.

If you need help searching Emerald Insight, do not hesitate to get in touch with your librarian.
